The album Dion chante Plamondon is entirely comprised of songs written by Québécois songwriter Luc Plamondon.
In June 1991 Celine traveled to Paris to record two songs at Michel Berger’s studio Face B. The songs are for the album Tycoon, an English-language version of Starmania, the famous French rock-opera by Plamondon and Berger. Seduced by the studio’s configuration and intimacy, Celine decided to record an entire album dedicated to Luc Plamondon’s celebrated repertoire. Included on this album are three songs from Starmania and four new original songs, including Des mots qui sonnent and L’amour existe encore, the latter of which would become the cornerstone of Celine’s French repertoire.
This album is Celine’s first French album to be released worldwide.
