On Leonard Cohen’s album Dear Heather he continued his longtime collaborations with Sharon Robinson and Anjani Thomas. Robinson— a talented singer, songwriter, and producer— had been working with Cohen since the late 1970s, and jazz singer Thomas since 1984. Dear Heather followed 2001's critically acclaimed Ten New Songs.

Produced and engineered by Leanne Unger with Sharon Robinson, Anjani Thomas and Ed Sanders, Dear Heather debuts twelve new studio recordings composed by Cohen along with the live track, "Tennessee Waltz" — Cohen's emotional interpretation of the country-western standard popularized by Roy Acuff, Chet Atkins, Patti Page and others.
